Hey there,

We're excited to announce ClearPoint Next version 16.5.51! This release brings a wide range of improvements across initiatives, milestones, reporting, charts, AI, and system settings — making the platform more reliable and consistent throughout.

Here's what's new:

✨ Newly Available in CP Next

šŸ“Š Chart Description Support

Charts in ClearPoint Next now support chart descriptions, giving admins the ability to add context and accessibility notes directly to charts — consistent with the experience in ClearPoint Classic.

šŸ”§ Enhancements and Fixes Across the Platform

Initiatives & Milestones

  • Milestone management is significantly more reliable in this release.
  • Parent/child milestone relationships now reflect immediately after saving without requiring a browser refresh.
  • Bulk editing milestones on the Manage Milestones page now works as expected, and the parent column no longer goes blank when editing.
  • Adding multiple milestones at once now works correctly, initiative start and end date fields are fully editable in the editing drawer, and initiatives with auto-evaluation enabled no longer incorrectly allow manual status changes.
  • Completed dates now display properly on initiative detail pages, and percent complete values now show consistently across the Manage Initiatives and Milestones pages.
  • Custom field labels (renamed milestones) now apply consistently throughout the editing experience.
  • Linking initiatives to objectives on different scorecards now saves correctly.

Manage Elements & Import

  • Importing custom field data from the Manage Elements page now populates correctly across all supported field types.
  • The Manage Milestone page no longer goes blank when entering inline edit mode.
  • The Manage Scorecards export now respects user access, displaying only the scorecards visible to the current user.

Reports & Exports

  • Filtering summary reports by "Not Defined" status now returns results as expected.
  • Exporting reports with custom fields to Excel now displays the correct field values instead of field IDs.
  • Scorecard exports no longer include scorecards the user does not have access to.
  • Briefing Book custom headers and footers now save reliably.

Charts & Sparklines

  • Sparkline cards on element detail pages now load with all content fields active and selectable when first added to a layout.
  • The Gantt Chart collapse button now works correctly, allowing users to hide milestones and view only the initiative timeline.
  • Series dropdown options in sparkline cards are now clearly labeled so users can identify which measure each series belongs to.

Grid & Summary Reports

  • Categories and scorecard columns in grid reports can now be set to full width.
  • Adding categories as a column to a summary report now works correctly — the checkmark registers and duplicate columns are no longer added.

AI & Automation

  • ClearPoint AI now handles requests to create scorecards with elements more reliably.
  • AI suggestions are now permission-aware — the assistant no longer recommends actions that a user does not have access to complete, and error messages are presented in friendly, readable language rather than raw codes.
  • AI-created initiatives now include start and end dates to prevent errors on creation.
  • Reporting periods added via AI are now scoped correctly and no longer apply across all reporting frequencies.
  • The AI Knowledge Base now indexes and displays documents more reliably.
  • Series data type changes requested through AI now apply the correct data type consistently.

Series & Calculations

  • Series calculation types now behave consistently across all areas of the platform — calculated, aggregate, and reference series all validate properly before saving.

Text & Layout

  • The text editor now includes a "Reset to Default Color" option, making it easy to remove custom text colors and ensure content displays correctly in both light and dark mode.
