We’re excited to announce ClearPoint Next version 5! This release delivers a smoother user experience with improvements across Gantt charts, Briefing Book exports, edit interactions, and foundational admin tools. We’ve also introduced a beta preview of the new System Setup, with more to come soon.

✨ Newly Available in CP Next

We’re introducing a new centralized hub for admins to manage account settings in CP Next. While only the overview pages are available to preview in this release, full configuration functionality is on the way!

These pages are available for preview:

    Manage organization details, user roles, and account preferences.
  • Customizations
    Personalize fields, labels, and visual elements to match your organization’s needs.
  • Integration
    Set up and manage connections with external systems and data sources.

    Configure report templates, sharing settings, and automated report generation.

📊 Advanced Project Management: More Tools Unlocked

Several enhancements have been made to improve the Gantt Chart experience and streamline project management:

  • Resource Planning
    Assign users to Milestones with % allocations. Track effort over time and ensure proper capacity planning.
  • Resource Planning Report
    View a table of resource allocations across users and milestones with monthly and FTE breakdowns.
  • Percent Complete Rollups
    Smarter rollup logic automatically calculates % complete at the Initiative level without relying on calculated fields.
  • Critical Path View
    Highlight tasks that form the critical path in your Gantt charts for clearer schedule impact analysis.

🔧 Enhancements and Fixes Across the Platform

📄 Briefing Books & Reports

  • Briefing Book exports now generate correctly without blank pages.
  • Scorecards tab in Briefing Book setup correctly reflects selected content and layout selections.
  • Report editing language is now consistent—"Customize Layout" is used across pages for clarity.

🗂️ Gantt Charts

  • Baseline and Constraint columns are no longer dependent on toggle options to appear.
  • “Show Baselines” no longer triggers unnecessary errors if data is missing.
  • Drag-and-drop of task bars is now supported, along with double-click inline editing.
  • Owner columns and task status indicators display as expected.
  • Gantt chart option selections now persist on refresh.

⚙️ Scorecards, Layouts, and Navigation

  • Scorecard duplication works as expected, and default homepage behavior has been stabilized.
  • Scorecard statuses are now visible, with plans for future customization.
  • Duplicate view names are now prevented on Manage Pages.
  • Custom element names (e.g., Risks) now display correctly in navigation and views.

✏️ Editing & Drawer Behavior

  • Edit drawers now load the correct context—even when switching between elements or modules.
  • Linking drawers properly default to the current scorecard (even if no categories are set).
  • Constraints and auto-scheduling behavior now match Classic logic more closely.

💬 AI & SSO

  • SSO logins now work correctly when redirected to CP Next.
  • Editing or creating elements via the AI assistant no longer shows technical IDs unnecessarily.
  • AI no longer navigates to a design screen when attempting to create new elements.

📊 Clearer Grid Reports with Category Columns
Reports using the Categories column now render properly, even when combined with Description or custom text fields. You can confidently build comprehensive reports without visual disruption.

📈 Percent Complete Values Display Correctly in Reports
Initiative Reports now show accurate percentage values when a percent complete is entered on the detail page, keeping performance tracking consistent across views.

🗂️ Cleaner Manage Reports Page
Diagram and Milestone report types are now excluded from Manage Reports where they are not applicable, streamlining the report creation interface.

🧩 Fewer Duplicates in Grid Report Builder
The Milestone column tab is now listed only once in the Grid Report column selector, eliminating confusion during report setup.

📦 Improved Clarity on Manage Elements Page
If a scorecard contains no elements, the Manage Elements page now displays a clear “No matching elements found” message instead of remaining stuck in a loading state.

🧠 AI Gets Smarter, Faster, and More Seamless

AI in CP Next now includes:

  • A new AI Top Nav: Access AI anytime from the top navigation bar—an always-on assistant that’s ready to help you brainstorm, analyze, plan, or take action across any page.
  • Cleaner AI-generated content: You’ll no longer see backend IDs like scorecardId or elementId. Just clean, user-friendly labels.
  • Streamlined element creation: When you create scorecards or elements through AI, it now creates them properly—no more misrouted links or beta design screen redirects.
  • Improved Recommendations-to-Actions flow: Turn AI-generated recommendations into actionable items more cleanly—status, type, and ownership are correctly handled.

🗃️ Reporting Workflow Enhancements

Reporting workflows now:

  • Display sent status and scheduled send date for each scheduled email
  • Include element type icons in task lists for easier identification
  • Show task completion more cleanly in the chart (labels won’t overlap anymore)
  • Properly filter and restore lists when using the user filter
  • Let you assign an owner automatically, and sync owner updates between CP Current and CP Next
  • Display sent status more meaningfully (“Sent (3 of 3)” or recipient count)

📈 Gantt Chart: Now Project-Ready

Big strides in Gantt functionality:

  • Inline editing and drag-and-drop are now supported!
  • Dependencies between milestones now update correctly in detail pages and Gantt reports
  • Owners now display properly in columns
  • “Show Baselines” no longer returns invalid errors
  • Status icons now display by default
  • Options persist across refreshes (or can be set as system defaults)
  • Improved constraints, auto-scheduling, baseline behavior, and date controls

Note: You’ll need to reach out to your Account Manager or Support to enable the “Advanced Project Management” features and access baseline and dependency tracking in full.

📄 HTML & Briefing Books

Briefing Books and HTML exports now:

  • Include period selectors and recipient options when generating a report
  • Display contents correctly across the Scorecards and Contents tabs
  • Retain formatting and linked element selections reliably after saving
  • Display cleaner layouts (spacing, headers, and footers improved)
  • Avoid blank pages during export

🧾 Manage Pages & Detail Page Polish

  • No more duplicate view names—Manage Pages will now prevent it
  • Custom names (e.g., renaming Risks to something else) now display correctly in the left nav and Manage Pages
  • Completed Date and Attachments pods behave properly across all layouts
  • “Favorites” now correctly reflect per-element, not per-element-type
  • Views now support properly assigning sort order on import
  • Filter toggles now reset correctly when disabled and removed
  • Series View now allows period columns to be added or removed again
  • Pod styling now editable in Workspaces too
  • Layout editing terminology is now standardized—say hello to “Customize Layout” mode across all layout types

  • Scorecard duplication now works as intended—no more disappearing copies
  • Upload Edits modal’s close (“×”) button works again
  • You can now update measure statuses on new measures as expected
  • Objective Score now displays again
  • Grid reports now respect layout settings, like Category grouping and full-width columns

  • Gauge charts now default to “Current Period” like in Classic

🎛️ Layout Editor – Smooth editing for partially hidden pods: Pods set to partial width and hidden in specific views are now fully editable and movable, giving you greater flexibility and control during layout customization—no zooming required.
